I’m interested in Invisalign for my bottom teeth; I had braces in the past but had an unfortunate incident with my lower teeth that have lead to re-crowding. Is it possible to just have Invisalign on my bottom teeth? Does this change the price of treatment?
I’ve also read about something called Invisalign Express – is this something you offer? Not the Accelerator, I’ve read about that as well.
Thanks in advance
We get a lot of inquires concerning Invisalign for bottom teeth. It is possible, but very rarely recommended by dentists or orthodontists. It is best to treat both upper and lower arches simultaneously.
There is specific manor in which your upper and lower teeth should close together, we call this an occlusion or a bite. If we treat one arch only, when your treatment is complete, your upper teeth may not be aligned with your lower teeth.
A misaligned bite can cause problems with chewing and digestion, not mention unwanted wear or chips on your teeth. Aligning only your bottom teeth can also cause problems with your jaw. You may experience pain or headaches because the alignment of your upper and lower teeth is not balanced.
Like most people, you are probably concerned with the appearance of having braces on your upper teeth. Invisalign is virtually invisible making it more aesthetically pleasing than typical metal braces so you can smile more confidently during and after your treatment.
The financial cost of treating your upper and lower teeth would be the same as if I were to treat just your lower teeth. The entire process of Invisalign treatment also remains the same. This includes orthodontic records, a treatment plan specific to your needs, fabrication of your aligners, your scheduled follow up appointments and retention phase.
We hope we have answered all your questions, however if we missed something, please do not hesitate to phone our office. We would be more than pleased to meet with you for a complimentary Invisalign assessment. Thank you for inquiring with us.
